Based on many years of experience in developing electrical actuator solutions LINAK understands the importance of mixing quality with safety, functionality and design. In order to meet the extremely high standards for healthcare equipment, LINAK actuators contain many different safety features to make sure that you can rely on your actuator at all times.

Self-lock spring brakes

Self-lock
To avoid actuator drifting, and potentially creating dangerous situations, LINAK actuators come with a self-lock function. The minimum self-lock always equals the max thrust lifting performance. LINAK works with three types of lock functions. One relies on the spindle pitch, another is a magnetic motor brake, while the third has a mechanical brake.

 
Mechanical endstop

Mechanical endstop
This is an extra safety feature, making the actuator first-failure-safe. If the electrical endstop switch should ever fail, a small disc at the endstop takes over and curls around the spindle. This effectively stops all movement when the mechanical endstop is reached. 

 
Safety nut

Safety nut
A safety nut acts as a precaution against potential failure of the main nut. The safety nut is an extra nut moving with the main nut inside the actuator. If the main nut breaks, the safety nut will immediately carry the full load and thereby prevent potentially harmful falling. Practically, the safety nut will allow you to lower/retract the actuator slowly to a safe position and call for service.

 
Ratched spline

Spline
LINAK offers three different types of spline: mechanical, electrical and ratchet spline. All three spline types prevent accidental squeezing of limbs between moving parts in an application, such as in a bed frame or in a couch/table when the actuator retracts. Also, LINAK spline will immediately stop lowering the backrest in, for example, a hospital bed if obstructed, thus preventing the application from being damaged.

 
Quick release closed and opened

Quick release
Quick Release is an important functionality that ensures fast lowering of the application in emergency situations. When used in beds, it allows caregivers to quickly lower the backrest to a horizontal position in case the patient needs CPR. 

 
 
Manual lowering

Manual lowering
Products used in hoists are constructed for easy OEM application compliance with the ISO 10535 standard. Manual lowering is a standard safety feature for lifting actuators in hoists and is used in emergency situations in case a power cut occurs.

 
 

Safety factor
LINAK helps you live up to safety factor requirements in your market. The safety factor indicates the load capability in a static situation. Safety factor 2, for example, indicates that the actuator is capable of carrying two times the dynamic load as a static load without being damaged.

Extended safety factor
As an extra option, LINAK offers products with an extended safety factor. This helps you fulfil extended requirements for safety in specific application standards.
